254 firefighters and 11 aerial resources fight fire in Serra da Estrela in Portugal

Lisbon.- More than 254 firefighters, supported by 68 land vehicles and 11 aerial resources, are fighting this Saturday the fire declared last night in the village of Corgas, in the Serra da Estrela, in the Central region of Portugal, a source from the Civil Protection informed EFE. The spokesperson specified that the fire started for unknown reasons in Corgas and is currently being fought in two high-intensity areas. The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts for this Saturday a maximum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 16 °C for that area.

Tomorrow, the maximum temperature is expected to drop to 20 °C and the minimum to 11 °C, and rain is expected, although not heavy. In the Serra da Estrela is located the homonymous natural park and Biogenetic Reserve, where species such as the Iberian wolf, the wild rabbit or the fox are present.
