Panama. – The Venezuelan government authorized the extradition to Panama of a citizen accused of being allegedly responsible for the terrorist attack against a commercial airplane that occurred in 1994, an event that left a balance of 21 people dead.
The individual, identified as Ali Zaki Hage Jalil, was recently arrested in Venezuelan territory after remaining a fugitive for more than three decades. He is subject to an international warrant for crimes related to homicide and terrorism.
Panamanian authorities had initiated the corresponding diplomatic procedures to achieve his transfer and prosecution, a process that has finally been given the green light by the Venezuelan State.
The attack, considered the most serious in the history of Panama, occurred when an aircraft exploded minutes after taking off, in an event that shocked the international community.
With this decision, it is expected that the case will move towards its judicial resolution, providing an opportunity for justice to the victims and their families after more than 30 years of waiting.
