Santo Domingo.- The 2025 ENHOGAR-MICS Basic Report reveals that 40% of children under five years of age do not have health insurance, while among the population aged 5 to 17, the percentage without coverage is 31.2%.
The results, published by the National Statistics Office (ONE), show that, although 74.5% of the Dominican population has health insurance, coverage remains lower among younger age groups, especially during early childhood.
The study also indicates that 42% of the population is enrolled in the state-subsidized regime, which reflects the weight of this mechanism in the health protection of the most vulnerable sectors. Meanwhile, 12.7% have private health insurance.

The ENHOGAR-MICS 2025 survey constitutes one of the main sources of information on the living conditions of the Dominican population and collects data on health, education, housing, social protection, nutrition, and child well-being, with the purpose of guiding the design and evaluation of public policies.
