5,412 new teachers will be incorporated into the Dominican education system after passing the probationary period

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (Minerd) held today the closing ceremony of the National Induction Program for New Teaching Staff 2024-2025, in which 5,412 teachers passed their probationary period and become permanent employees of the pre-university education system. In the event, led by the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, 123 teachers were recognized for their outstanding participation and 54 tutors out of the 2,282 who were part of the process were recognized. De Camps emphasized that since the beginning of his management, he has assumed the commitment to promote a qualitative leap in the professionalization of teaching staff, in full coherence with the commitments established in the 2025-2028 Roadmap.

“We know that the teacher’s work demands respect, dignity and recognition. And we also know that professional development is not a destination, but a path that is built with innovation, collaboration, critical thinking and a pedagogical practice oriented towards results,” highlighted the minister.

In that sense, he stated that induction is an essential part of that path, because it accompanies, guides, strengthens and, above all, prepares the teacher to perform effectively, based on the professional standards that govern the certification and development of the teaching career in our country. The minister stated that the program has impacted 44,476 education professionals since 2022 who have entered the system through the Teacher Opposition Contest, in accordance with the law.

For his part, the Vice Minister of Teacher Accreditation and Certification of the Minerd, Francisco D’Óleo, reported that these new teachers also received standardized complementary training, under the pedagogical coordination of Isfodosu, which updated the training modules and managed the training platform that housed 17 Higher Education Institutions involved in the process. He also indicated that the area he directs reaffirms with this act its responsibility to ensure that every educator who joins our system receives the guidance, technical assistance, and pedagogical support necessary to carry out their mission effectively and with dedication.

The program advances in full harmony with the Dominican government’s 2025-2028 Roadmap and Horizon Plan 2034, which seek to ensure inclusive and quality education, with the teacher as a key player.
