7-year-old boy dies after gate of building falls on him in Los Alba, Guanábano
Cayetano Germosén. — A painful tragedy shook the community of Los Alba, in Moca, Espaillat, when in the afternoon of this Tuesday a child of only 7 years of age lost his life tragically when the iron gate of an apartment building fell on him.
According to witness accounts, the minor, whose name has not been revealed out of respect for family privacy, was playing in the vicinity of the building when, for reasons not yet clarified, the heavy gate came loose and fell on him, causing fatal injuries.
Despite the residents’ efforts to help him and take him to a health center, the child unfortunately arrived without vital signs.
Local authorities and members of the Emergency System 911 went to the scene to begin the corresponding investigations and determine the conditions of the gate and possible responsibilities for the event.
Neighbors expressed their dismay and demand that the owners and administrators of residential complexes ensure the proper maintenance of their structures to prevent tragedies like this from happening again.
