Abel Martínez: “The Government only knows how to take money out of the people’s pockets”

Faced with the conflict in the Middle East, Martínez asserted that those who currently lead from the National Palace have demonstrated once again that they were not prepared to take on the great challenges involved in administering the State. Moca.- The presidential candidate for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) Abel Martínez, strongly questioned the government of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) for the recent increase in fuel prices, pointing out that the authorities have failed to offer effective responses to the impact of the conflict in the Middle East.

During a meeting held in Las Lagunas, Moca, Martínez questioned that recently government officials assured that there was no need to worry about the war in Iran, because the country had a good oil reserve, “showever in just eight days the gallon of gasoline and diesel has increased 15 pesos, which means that they were wrong once again as in the beginning when they said they were prepared to govern”.

“The rise in fuel prices directly affects the quality of life and the pockets of all Dominicans, because the current government knows about that: taking money out of the pockets of the people. The conflict in the Middle East may last indefinitely and the government, instead of continuing to optimize and promote the use of the Metro and cable cars, what we see is that in Santo Domingo and Santiago, they are out of service more frequently.”

Abel Martínez pointed out that the rise in fuel prices also translates negatively into national production, because production costs in the food chain skyrocket.

“The government has shown once again that it is incapable of running the country. That is why the disaster in the construction of roads and highways, in support of the agricultural sector, in the education sector, where we see how every day education is of lower quality,” he expressed.

The political leader pointed out that “moments like the ones we are experiencing and the difficulties we will face as a country, should force the State to tighten its grip and be austere. But be truly austere. It is not about announcing measures in the media and behind the scenes acting with wastefulness. It requires a firm hand, intelligent use and prioritization of State resources.”
