Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader received the executives and players of Salcedo Fútbol Club at the National Palace this Wednesday to recognize them for winning the 2025-2026 season title of the Dominican Soccer League (LDF), an achievement that marks a milestone for the franchise and national soccer.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz; the president of the Dominican Soccer League, Milton Ray Guevara; and the senator for the Hermanas Mirabal province, María Mercedes Ortiz.
During the activity, the president congratulated the Salcedo team for their performance throughout the tournament and valued the effort, discipline, and perseverance that allowed them to reach the championship. Likewise, he reiterated the Government’s support for the development of the team and Dominican soccer.
Abinader highlighted that Salcedo FC managed to overcome rivals who started as favorites, becoming an example that teamwork and determination can prevail over any forecast.

The head of state also expressed his wish that, before his term ends, a stadium can be inaugurated in Salcedo that contributes to the growth of soccer and the sports development of the Hermanas Mirabal province.
For his part, the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, described the title win as the result of the commitment and perseverance shown by the players, coaching staff, and management throughout the season.
“This is the true team that represents the phoenix, because it came from the bottom, breaking all expectations and managing to wear the champion’s crown thanks to the talent, effort, and confidence of its athletes and all its people,” the official expressed.
Cruz considered that the championship won by Salcedo FC strengthens the competitiveness of the Dominican Football League and motivates new talents to develop within this discipline.
