Santo Domingo.– The Superintendent of Banks, Alejandro Fernández W., announced that he will conclude his duties at the head of the institution on August 16, ending a six-year tenure in which he stated he worked for the strengthening of the national financial system.
Fernández expressed his gratitude to President Luis Abinader for giving him the opportunity to serve the country from a position he described as key to promoting important transformations for the benefit of the Dominican Republic.
In a farewell message also addressed to his wife and children, he revealed that at the beginning of April he formally communicated to the president his decision not to opt for a renewal of the position at the end of the term for which he was appointed.
“It was a decision that, as you can imagine, I have been reflecting on for a long time and one that I reached, together with my family, with peace and conviction,” he expressed.
Likewise, he highlighted the support and dedication of the technical team that accompanied him during his administration, which he defined as a group of highly trained professionals committed to the country’s development.

The official also expressed gratitude for the support received from the Monetary Board, considering that their backing was decisive for the work carried out during the last six years at the head of the Superintendency of Banks.
