Santo Domingo.– Agents of the Regional Sub-directorate of Investigation (DICRIM) South Central of the National Police arrested a man at the Las Américas International Airport (AILA) who was actively sought via an arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in a homicide that occurred in the Villa Majega sector, Baní municipality, Peravia province.
The detainee was identified as Alejandro Gabriel García Lacerda, alias “Alex El Guardita”, 30 years old, who was captured while attempting to board a flight bound for Bogotá, Colombia.
The arrest occurred after agents from the AILA Intelligence Section detected an alert in the DOM-02 migration system, with instructions to detain him and notify Interpol. Subsequently, García Lacerda was handed over to DICRIM investigators through the corresponding certification issued by the Investigation Department of the General Directorate of Migration.
The authorities reported that, as part of the investigations into the case, the firearm linked to the incident was also recovered, which was handed over voluntarily by a woman at a home located in the Pueblo Nuevo sector.
García Lacerda is identified as the alleged mastermind behind the death of Franney Reyes, which occurred in Villa Majega. In that same incident, Claudio Antonio Valdez Santana, alias “Antonio,” 38, was wounded after receiving gunshot wounds to both legs, and Second Lieutenant Eligio García Mejía, 53, sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg.

According to preliminary investigations, the incident originated after an argument between the victim and the person now in custody. Subsequently, the latter’s father, identified as Eligio García, allegedly fired several shots at Reyes, triggering a confrontation in which the police officer was wounded.

During the investigative proceedings, García Lacerda stated that the weapon used in the incident was in the possession of his wife. Following this information, DICRIM agents went to a residence in the Pueblo Nuevo sector, where a Carandai brand pistol, 9-millimeter caliber, was handed over, along with its magazine and two cartridges, which has a valid license for carry, possession, and use.
The detainee and the seized weapon remain in police custody and will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal purposes, while investigations into the case continue.
