Santiago.- The president of the Association for Development, Inc. (APEDI), Lina García, stated that Santiago has experienced a significant transformation in recent years thanks to public investments executed by the Government, highlighting that the business sector is finally seeing the return of resources that it had demanded for the province for decades.
While participating in the Government Council led by President Luis Abinader in Santiago, García compared the current reality of the province with that observed six years ago, when the first meeting of this type was held, noting that the progress is visible in multiple strategic areas.
“Today we can see significant investments in traffic management, education, health, and other fundamental areas for the development of Santiago,” expressed the business leader.
The APEDI representative maintained that the Santiago business community had been demanding for years greater state investment in a province that makes one of the largest contributions to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is why she considers that a large part of that historical debt has begun to be settled.
“For a long time, the business sector asked for a portion of the investment that Santiago generates through its contributions to the national economy to be returned to it. Today we can say that we have received a significant public investment,” he stated.

However, García acknowledged that there are still challenges and pending projects to be executed, although he positively valued the openness of the authorities to maintain a constant dialogue with the different productive sectors of the province.

The businesswoman highlighted that one of the most relevant aspects of the current development process is the permanent communication between the Government and the private sector, which has allowed for the identification of priorities and the acceleration of initiatives aimed at strengthening competitiveness and the quality of life of citizens.
The statements by the president of APEDI come at a time when the Government presented a balance of the investments made in Santiago, a province that has been the scene of important infrastructure, urban mobility, education, health, and sanitation projects over the last few years.
