Valverde.– Members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) detained 49 Haitian citizens in an irregular migratory status, including 46 men, two women, and one minor, during an operation carried out in the municipality of Esperanza, Valverde province.
The intervention was carried out on local roads near the irrigation canal in the municipal district of Jicomé, where, according to the military institution, the group was attempting to evade the Jicomé Joint and Interagency Task Force Checkpoint of the Ministry of Defense.
The foreigners were taken into custody at the headquarters of the 4th Infantry Brigade of the ERD and subsequently handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for the corresponding process in accordance with current legislation.
