ASONAHORES recognizes David Collado for the achievements of the tourism sector in his management

Santo Domingo.- The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES) recognized the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, for his dedication, his achievements in directing the State’s action in this sector and his permanent coordination with the private sector, which have contributed to consolidating the country’s position as a leading destination in Central America and the Caribbean.

Our country is a “regional benchmark in tourism, and the successes in the five years that our minister has been leading this sector, we have managed to grow every year in this five-year period despite the difficulties that have slowed down tourism worldwide”, said the president of the entity Juan Bancalari.

In ASONAHORES, he stated, “we are very satisfied with Minister Collado’s management, whose results are reflected in a growth in the arrival of tourists and visitors, in foreign exchange earnings and in direct foreign investment. The growth recorded in these years “has been excellent and the fruits they reap are being seen.” The recognition was presented at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Tourism Investment Forum, an annual meeting organized by ASONAHORES to assess issues related to the progress of investments in the sector. This edition was dedicated to analyzing sports tourism, which both ASONAHORES and Minister Collado have identified as one of the main opportunities for diversification and attracting capital for the coming years. The Minister of Sports Kelvin Cruz was present at the activity.

“A key factor for the strength of a tourist destination is its diversification“, he highlighted, and our country exhibits today, Bancalari highlighted, and sports tourism is an option to support the “formidable sustainable growth of tourism activity, and consolidate as one of the main drivers of the national economy”. Bancalari emphasized that the development of sports tourism opens up a scenario of opportunities for investors. “This panorama represents a great and attractive investment opportunity for those who decide to bet on sports tourism… Betting on the Dominican Republic is always a success and sports tourism is part of our future development and diversification“. The event brought together authorities, entrepreneurs, sports organizations, and national and international experts in a space aimed at defining the roadmap to position the country as a regional leader in sports, international events, and specialized infrastructure.
