At least two deaths due to the wind and rain storm in northern France

Paris.- At least two people died this Saturday as a result of the storm of rain and wind that is hitting the north of France this weekend, named Amy. According to official sources, the first victim was a 48-year-old man who drowned in coastal Étretat, in the Seine-Maritime department (northwest), while swimming. Another person died when a tree fell on their van in Aisne, in the north of the country. A passenger who was with him is seriously injured, according to local media.

“All my support to the victims and, in particular, to the families of the two men who lost their lives in the storms in the north of France. Thanks to the civil security forces and the internal security forces who have bravely committed to helping the population,” said the acting Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau.

There are a total of six departments (out of the hundreds in France) on orange alert due to the effects of Storm Amy, which has arrived in the north of the country from the United Kingdom. On the northwest coast, winds of more than 130 kilometers per hour were recorded this afternoon.
