Banreservas allocates RD$5 billion to finance SMEs led by women

Santo Domingo.- Banco de Reservas announced the availability of RD$5 billion for new financing aimed at strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises led by women, as part of the second edition of the Banreservas Women SME Summit, an initiative developed together with Mastercard to promote female entrepreneurship and financial inclusion in the Dominican Republic.

The resources will be channeled at an annual rate of 12.95%, considered one of the most competitive in the national financial market. The announcement was made on behalf of the executive president of Banreservas, Leonardo Aguilera, by the senior executive vice president of Business, Ysidro García.

García explained that, with this new availability of resources, Banreservas increases its credit portfolio destined to strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises to RD$32 billion, a sector that contributes to job creation and the dynamism of the national economy.

During his speech, the executive highlighted that this initiative responds to the financial institution’s commitment to supporting female entrepreneurs and providing them with better conditions to develop and expand their businesses.

For her part, María Barreiros, Senior Vice President of Small and Medium Enterprises for Mastercard in Latin America and the Caribbean, valued Banreservas’ support for female entrepreneurship and highlighted the importance of creating opportunities that allow women to strengthen their businesses and access tools for their growth.

In addition to financing, the Banreservas Women’s SME Summit includes training spaces, exchange of experiences, and networking opportunities. The initiative also integrates Banreservas’ subsidiary companies and is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises led by women with growth potential.

As part of the partnership between Banreservas and Mastercard, hundreds of female entrepreneurs will be able to access a digital training platform for free, featuring courses on electronic payments, personal finance, cybersecurity, and entrepreneurship, with practical content available from any device.

The activity took place at the Cooperativa Reservas facilities and included the lectures “Leadership that transforms: women building companies with vision, purpose, and impact” and “Digital Productivity: Transforming your Company to Grow without Limits,” as well as panels focused on training and strengthening female entrepreneurs.
