Santiago. — The Banreservas Cultural Center of Santiago reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of Dominican art, culture, and traditions by inaugurating the Popular Arts Fair of Santiago, an event that turns this space into a meeting point for the talent of artisans and creators from the Heart City.
The fair, which is held from Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 5, brings together dozens of artisans and creators in an extensive program that includes exhibitions, conferences, and workshops open to the public starting at 10:00 in the morning. Its objective is to strengthen the creative economy, highlight Dominican cultural heritage, and promote the country’s artisanal talent.
The inaugural event was attended by representatives from the Banreservas Foundation, the Coopera Program, and the Federation of Artisans of Santiago, among other institutions linked to the cultural and artisanal development of the Dominican Republic.
During her welcoming remarks, the manager of the Banreservas Cultural Center in Santiago, Gladialisa Pereyra, highlighted that the institution’s mission is to preserve, promote, and disseminate authentic cultural expressions that strengthen national identity.
“Our commitment is to support those who, with the talent of their hands, keep the collective memory alive and transmit our roots to present and future generations,” expressed Pereyra.
The manager also highlighted the ongoing support of the executive president of Banreservas, Dr. Leonardo Aguilera, who promotes initiatives aimed at strengthening art and culture in all their expressions, recognizing the essential role of artisans as ambassadors of Dominican traditions both at home and abroad.

Pereyra stated that this fair seeks to boost the artisanal sector, generate new opportunities for its protagonists, and contribute to keeping the cultural legacy represented by works crafted by Dominican hands alive.
Academic program and training
As part of the event’s training program, prominent specialists will conduct lectures and discussions on key topics for the strengthening of the craft sector.

Among them, Valentín Guerrero, cultural manager, creator and curator, will offer the lecture “Craftsmanship, Heritage and Cultural Identity”.
For his part, Israel Urraca, manager of Coopera, will present the paper “Government Integration and Formalization Strategies”, aimed at the organizational strengthening of the sector.
Likewise, Yanilsa Cruz, cultural manager and president of FUNDECART, will give the lecture “Craftsmanship and Tourist Destinations: strategies to integrate artisanal work into the city’s tourist offer”.
Similarly, Santiago Henríquez and Franklin Sánchez will hold the colloquium “Design and Innovation: craftsmanship is not the same as manual work; how to adapt craftsmanship to current trends,” promoting innovation without losing the essence of traditional techniques.
As part of the training activities, the participating exhibitors will also receive specialized training in Financial Management for Microenterprises.
All activities at the Banreservas Cultural Center in Santiago are open to the public, with the purpose of bringing national culture and art closer to all citizens, promoting their appreciation, enjoyment, and preservation.
