Barber killed in multiple shots during shootout due to discussion on Altos de Rafey court, Santiago

Santiago.- A 35-year-old man, identified as Adonis Abreu Toribio, died on Monday night after receiving multiple gunshot wounds in the middle of a shootout that occurred after an argument on a court in the Altos de Rafey sector, in this city, according to his relatives. The victim, who worked as a hairdresser and had a barbershop in his residence, was hit by several shots when, according to versions offered by relatives, several people had starred in an altercation in the aforementioned court, left the place and later returned armed, unleashing the shooting. Family members say that the deceased was not a confrontational man. Visibly distraught, his sister María Toribio recounted that Adonis was not a person who caused problems and that he dedicated himself exclusively to working and that he had a hair salon in his home. He explained that everything would have originated from an inconvenience recorded on the sector’s court, which subsequently triggered the tragedy.

“It seems there was a problem on the court, they left, armed themselves and then returned,” expressed the family member, while assuring that her brother was a hardworking and calm man.

Toribio also revealed that the violence of the shooting put other residents of the area at risk, including herself.

Horror scene in the slum

After the event, the body of Adonis Abreu Toribio was left lying on the pavement, while agents of the National Police and representatives of the Public Ministry appeared at the scene to carry out the removal and initiate the corresponding investigations. The coroner certified that the death was caused by multiple gunshot wounds. Subsequently, the body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) of Santiago for the required procedures. Consternation in Altos de Rafey The death of Abreu Toribio has caused deep consternation among neighbors, friends, and residents of Altos de Rafey, who lamented the violent event and expressed concern about the level of insecurity in the neighborhood. So far, authorities have not provided details on possible detainees nor have they officially identified those responsible for the shooting.
