Bolsonaro “continues stable and without hiccups” after a night of crisis

The hiccups suffered by the former president, apparently, are derived from the knife attack he suffered during the 2018 election campaign. For the time being, Bolsonaro continued this Sunday with the postoperative care of the inguinal hernia surgery he underwent at Christmas.

The far-right leader will have to continue with physiotherapy for his rehabilitation and with prophylaxis to prevent venous thrombosis and general clinical care. The former head of state (2019-2022) left last week the cell where he is serving his sentence at the Federal Police headquarters in Brasilia, to undergo bilateral inguinal hernia surgery, after the approval of magistrate Alexandre de Moraes. The far-right leader was admitted to the private D.F Star hospital in the Brazilian capital on December 24 and is expected to remain hospitalized for at least a week. Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years and three months in prison for having led a plot to try to stay in power after losing the 2022 elections, in which the progressive Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was victorious. In addition to the sentence, the former president is disqualified from running for elections until 2060.
