Caracas.- The general secretary of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, assured this Monday that the country is “calm” and in “peace”, after two weeks of the United States military attack on Caracas and three other regions that concluded with the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. “This town is so calm, at peace, because of the Bolivarian revolution, otherwise it wouldn’t be like this,” said the also Minister of Interior and Justice in the weekly press conference of the Chavista formation. Cabello highlighted that after the US attack there were no demonstrations that supported this action in the country, while he said that the Chavista government continues to work in the political, economic and social spheres. “We will continue in the streets alongside the people in our daily struggle, the bad sons of this homeland will never impose evil in Venezuela, never, they have no possibility of doing so,” he added.

Cabello maintained that the aggressions against the country will be confronted through diplomacy. “We are not afraid to sit down and talk to whoever we have to talk to,” he indicated.

Since the capture, Chavismo has called for demonstrations to demand the release of both and has promised not to rest until they are brought back to Venezuela.
