Santo Domingo.– The Mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía, inaugurated this Thursday the Paseo Paraíso linear park, a new public space located on Winston Churchill Avenue, which incorporates an artistic mural dedicated to the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
The intervention covers nearly 70 linear meters and is part of the actions promoted by the council to recover and beautify urban spaces ahead of the regional sporting event.
The mural, created by the National District City Hall, features Colí, the official mascot of the Games, depicted in various sports disciplines as a symbol of the competitive spirit, integration, and diversity that characterize the event.
During the inauguration ceremony, Carolina Mejía highlighted that the project seeks to pay tribute to the athletes and strengthen the citizens’ sense of belonging, while projecting Santo Domingo as a city prepared to welcome thousands of visitors during the competition.
The mayor pointed out that these types of interventions also contribute to leaving a permanent legacy for the capital, through public spaces that combine art, recreation, and civic coexistence.

As part of the work carried out on Paseo Paraíso, the Mayor’s Office installed pavers on the sidewalks, benches, LED lighting, poles, trash cans, and new green areas, with the goal of offering a safer and more comfortable environment for pedestrians and residents of the area.
Mejía explained that this delivery is part of a broader plan for the recovery of public spaces, highlighting that the municipal administration has rehabilitated approximately 85% of the parks in the National District.

With this inauguration, the Paseo Paraíso joins other works executed for the Central American and Caribbean Games, including the Malecón Deportivo, the Paseo 30 de Mayo, and the Taíno park, initiatives that seek to strengthen the urban image of Santo Domingo and leave a legacy for the citizens beyond the sporting event.
