Santo Domingo.– Residents of the El Millón and Mirador Sur sectors, in the National District, staged a pot-banging protest (cacerolazo) this Monday night as a form of protest against various measures and situations that have generated discontent among part of the citizenry.
Videos shared on social media show people banging pots and other utensils from balconies, windows, and common areas of their homes, in a demonstration that took place peacefully.
The call was made by urban artist Melymel, who invited people through her Instagram account to participate in the initiative as a way to express rejection of issues such as the so-called “Gag Law,” the tax reform, and alleged police abuses.
