Higüey.– The Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic (CCRD) held a training session aimed at authorities and technicians of local governments in the Eastern region, with the purpose of strengthening transparency, accountability, and good practices in municipal administration through the use of technological tools.

The activity was developed in coordination with the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (FEDOMU), and the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (FEDODIM), and took place in the Reynaldo Caraballo Inirio Hall of the Higüey Municipal City Hall.

The meeting was attended by mayors, district directors, treasurers, financial managers, and municipal technical staff, who received guidance on the operation of the External Control Information System for Public Entities (SICEEP), a technological platform created by the CCRD for the reception, processing, and analysis of accountability reports, budgets, and budget executions of local governments.

The opening was led by the deputy mayor of Higüey, Pablo Ávila, who highlighted the importance of these types of initiatives to strengthen municipal management and foster a culture of transparency for the benefit of the citizenry.

Likewise, the president of the Dominican Municipal League, Víctor D’Aza; the president of FEDOMU and mayor of Samaná, Nelson Núñez; and the president of FEDODIM, Lioncito José Sencilie, participated, and they agreed that coordination between institutions is fundamental to promote a more efficient, accessible, and transparent local administration.

The member of the Chamber of Accounts Plenary, Magistrate Griselda Gómez Santana, explained the main aspects related to municipal accountability and presented the scope of SICEEP, highlighting that this platform constitutes the only official means enabled for the digital submission of financial information by local governments.
