Las Terrenas, Samaná.- The political landscape of Las Terrenas is beginning to take shape ahead of the 2028 municipal elections. In this context, the project led by Agustín Tavárez, mayoral candidate for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), gave a new sign of growth and organization with the incorporation of leaders and new cadres into his political structure.
The show of force took place during a reception and swearing-in ceremony that brought together nearly 300 people, including leaders, militants, and supporters of the PRM, in an activity that evidenced the level of mobilization achieved by the project within the municipality.
During the meeting, Jairo Bruno, Jaroldo Vázquez, Daniel Fulgencio, and engineer Roberlyn Rivera were sworn in, formalizing their integration into the political team working in support of Tavárez’s aspirations.
Beyond the incorporation of new members, the activity gained relevance due to the presence of PRM leaders at different levels, which projects the movement as a structure seeking to consolidate itself well in advance of the next municipal electoral process.
The main table was composed of Nora de los Santos, president of the PRM in Las Terrenas; Camilo Medina, provincial secretary of the organization; as well as leaders Antonio de León and Rubén Darío Contreras. Also participating were Dr. Santiago Hidalgo, director of the hospital, and Professor Sandro de los Santos, director of Educational District 14-07.

An early signal towards 2028
The event takes place while there is still time before the municipal elections, but when the various political forces are beginning to observe with attention the construction of leaderships, alliances, and territorial structures that could define the electoral competition.

In that scenario, Tavárez’s strategy aims to consolidate a political platform with territorial presence and mobilization capacity, while adding leaders and new members to a project that intends to contest the leadership of the municipal government of Las Terrenas during the 2028-2032 period.
The participation of party leaders and the turnout achieved during the activity position Tavárez’s movement as one of the political projects starting to generate attention on the municipal board of Las Terrenas, where the realignment of forces ahead of 2028 is just beginning.
The meeting, consequently, not only represented the swearing-in of new members, but also an early demonstration of political organization and mobilization capacity, in a strategic municipality for the economic and tourism development of the Samaná province.
