Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) issued a tsunami warning this Wednesday for the southern coast of the Dominican Republic, after a 7.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded west of Puerto Cabello, Venezuela.
n” “nThe director of the COE, Juan Manuel Méndez, reported that, according to the bulletin issued by the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), a yellow alert was established from Pedernales to Barahona and a green alert from Barahona to La Altagracia.
n” “nMéndez urged residents in high-risk coastal areas to take the necessary preventive measures and asked the institutions that make up the emergency system to remain active to protect lives and property.
n” “nThe seismic movement occurred at 6:04 in the afternoon, with a depth of 10 kilometers, and had its epicenter about 53 kilometers west of Puerto Cabello, Venezuela.
