Colombian streamer Westcol is arrested after an incident with President Gustavo Petro

Colombia.– The renowned digital content creator Westcol was arrested this Friday, after an incident during a live broadcast in which the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro, participated.

According to preliminary information, the arrest occurred after a series of questions considered “uncomfortable” directed at the president during the streaming, which would have generated tensions in the digital space that quickly went viral on social media. So far, the authorities have not offered official details about the specific charges against the influencer, nor about their current legal situation. However, the event has generated a broad debate in public opinion about the limits of freedom of expression on digital platforms and the relationship between public figures and content creators. The streamer’s followers have expressed their support on social media, arguing that his actions are part of journalistic practice and the right to question figures of power. On the other hand, sectors aligned with the government consider that the incident may have crossed lines of institutional respect.
