Community Development and the Social Investment and Solidarity Fund of Chile will promote projects

Santo Domingo. The General Directorate of Community Development (DGDC) and the Social Solidarity and Investment Fund (FOSIS), of Chile, signed a letter of intent, in order to establish the bases of understanding and cooperation to explore and promote joint activities in the areas of food security, habitability and overcoming poverty. The Director of Community Development, Dr. Modesto Guzmán, stated that with the signing of the letter of intent, the institution takes a significant step in strengthening its relations with the international community. “This agreement symbolizes the mutual commitment to cooperation, transparency, and sustainable development between our institution and FOSIS. Here we reaffirm our willingness to work together for common goals, promoting policies, programs, and actions that directly benefit our communities” explained Dr. Modesto Guzmán.

Meanwhile, the general director of the Solidarity and Social Investment Fund of Chile, Nicolás Navarrete, valued the willingness to work jointly with the DGDC, which he described as an entity committed to its actions.

“Thank you for this welcome, and to tell you that you have leadership. With this visit we have been able to have in-depth conversations, and reach the Dominican families who live in poverty. We are two countries that relatively travel the same path,” said the Chilean official.

From the DGDC, as well as FOSIS, it was highlighted that the signing of the letter of intent arose due to the common interest in promoting technical cooperation and the exchange of experiences, the shared will to strengthen the bonds of friendship and collaboration between Chile and the Dominican Republic, and the vision of moving towards future joint actions of a technical, academic or institutional nature. It is recalled that the general director of Community Development, Dr. Modesto Guzman, traveled to Chile last September, where he completed an agenda that included learning about the social programs of the South American country.
