Bogotá.- The solidarity concert ‘Colombia: Voices for Life’, which will bring together 23 artists in Bogotá this Sunday, has raised more than 3.5 billion Colombian pesos (about 1.1 million dollars) to support the victims of the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck several regions of the country last Monday, August 10.
“Our goal is to unite our voices, our hands, and our expertise to raise funds and rebuild the homes of the Colombians whose living conditions were affected last August 10th by the earthquake,” stated Luz Ángela Castro, General Director of Ocesa Colombia, the company organizing the event, to EFE.
For the concert, artists of the stature of the Spaniard Miguel Bosé or the Colombians Sebastián Yatra and Karol G, who will perform via ‘streaming’, among others, have already confirmed their participation, and they have contributed to more than 21,000 donations having been made so far.
The event will take place at Vive Claro, a venue in the capital with an expected capacity of about 40,000 spectators, and will also have the support of sponsoring companies linked to the entertainment market, as well as Karol G’s Con Cora Foundation.
The list of artists also includes the group Niche, Nanpa Básico, Andrés Cepeda, Beéle, Bonka, Daniel Habif, Eladio Carrión, Galy Galiano, Hamilton, Juan Duque, Juliana, Laura Pérez, Maisak, Manú, Manuel Medrano, Pedro Capó and Timo.

“At this moment, ticket sales have not closed, and we have space available for people to continue donating and redeeming a ticket for the concert,” assured the organizer, who explains that citizens can donate through the Ticketmaster Colombia online platform.
Donations start at 100,000 Colombian pesos (about 32 dollars), although prices vary depending on the location.
“You are not buying a ticket, but rather donating for your participation to see a concert“, assured the organizer, who explained that all the money raised goes directly to Presentes Corporación, a company dedicated to the reconstruction of homes and infrastructure affected by natural disasters.
The earthquake on August 10th had its epicenter in the town of San José del Palmar, in the jungle department of Chocó (west), located on the border with Valle del Cauca and Risaralda, and the Colombian Institute of Legal Medicine has received 312 victims’ bodies.

However, these figures are far from those given by the Colombian president, Abelardo de la Espriella, who reduced the number of deaths to 289 in an address to the country this Monday.
