Court sentences man who killed pregnant ex-partner to 30 years in prison
The sentencing and ordered its fulfillment in the Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR) Najayo Men, San Cristóbal.
Santo Domingo.- The Collegiate Tribunal of San Cristóbal imposed a sentence of 30 years in prison on a man found guilty of murdering his ex-partner last year, who at the time the case occurred was in a state of pregnancy.
José Osvaldo Cuevas (el Compa) was convicted after the Public Ministry demonstrated before the court, with sufficient evidence, that he committed the murder of his ex-partner Eduarda Díaz Guzmán, who was four months pregnant, in May of last year, after he threatened her with death on several occasions.
According to the indictment, Cuevas killed the woman and then dismembered her body. It details that after committing the crime, Cuevas appeared before the National Police on Friday, May 24, 2024, around 10:30 p.m., where he confessed to the facts.
The corresponding autopsy was performed on the remains, establishing the case as a violent death of homicidal medico-legal etiology. In the process, it was not possible to determine what the defendant used to commit the crime, the mechanism of death, or the cause, due to the state of the body.
