Santiago.- In response to the needs of families residing in different sectors of Santiago, the Dominican government, through the Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Feeding (DASAC), carried out a broad social assistance campaign over five days in several vulnerable sectors of that Cibao area, bringing food and direct support to thousands of households in coordination with community leaders and local authorities.
The director of the institution, Edgar Augusto Féliz Arbona, reported that more than 26 thousand food rations were distributed door-to-door to low-income families in sectors such as Camboya, Rafey, Ensanche Libertad, Ensanche Bermúdez, Los Pepines, Suelo Duro, Ensanche Mirador, La Yagüita de Pastor, El Hoyo, Bella Vista, Santa Lucía, Calle 18, Pekín, Cristo Rey, among others.
“We continue working with the people, bringing support and comprehensive solutions to the families who need it most, as part of the commitment of the Government and our president Luis Abinader Corona to continue accompanying communities in a joint effort to improve their quality of life,” the official expressed, while brigades from the institution were also carrying out operations in La Otra Banda, Villa Liberación, and Baracoa.

The more than 26,000 families impacted positively valued the initiatives developed by the Government in the City of the 30 Knights, where thousands of mothers in the region were also recognized and impacted through the “Mothers who Sustain, Feed and Protect” program, activities that were carried out in the municipalities of Tamboril, Baitoa and Gran Arena del Cibao.
During the five days of intervention, DASAC teams maintained a permanent presence in the prioritized communities, ensuring that aid reached the most vulnerable households directly. The initiative allowed for the timely addressing of the needs of thousands of people, strengthening food security and bringing relief to families affected by economic limitations.
These actions are part of the social policy promoted by the Dominican Government through DASAC, to bring assistance closer to communities, promote inclusion, and respond effectively to the population’s demands, working together with community leaders and local authorities to expand the reach of assistance programs for the benefit of those who need it most.
