A young man identified as Yoel Luis, detained at the National Police station in the municipality of Las Guáranas, Duarte province, offered statements after being accused of the alleged abuse of a minor.

When approached while remaining in police custody, the detainee rejected the accusations against him and claimed that the teenager’s parents are seeking to harm him.

“That minor’s parents want to harm me. I haven’t been the only one who has been with that minor,” he expressed.

The statements correspond exclusively to the version offered by the defendant and are part of a process that is under investigation.

The case is in the hands of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the body in charge of directing the investigations and determining, together with the competent authorities, the facts and possible responsibilities as the judicial process progresses.

If you are going to publish it as a news article, it is advisable to keep expressions such as “alleged abuse”, “accused”, and “according to the detainee’s version” to avoid presenting the accusations as proven facts.
