DINTEL seizes firearms and arrests three people during raids in Azua

Azua. Members of the South Central Regional Intelligence Sub-directorate (DINTEL), in coordination with the Public Ministry and with the support of agents from the Preventive Police, carried out several raids in different sectors of the province of Azua, where they arrested three people and seized firearms, ammunition, and various weapon parts.

The operations culminated in the arrest of Gaby Miguel Vargas Marte, known as “Graby”; Braulio Méndez and Giovanne Augusto de los Santos Rodríguez, who were taken into custody for investigation purposes.

During the first raid, carried out in the municipal district of Las Barias, the authorities seized a Glock brand pistol, model 18C, 9-millimeter caliber, with its magazine and two cartridges.

In a second intervention, a Taurus brand .38 caliber revolver with a wooden grip was seized.

Meanwhile, in a third operation carried out in the Buenos Aires sector of Azua, agents seized two 12-gauge shotguns, two homemade weapons known as “chilenas,” a revolver, a .380 caliber pistol, eight 12-gauge shells, two M-16 rifle bolts, seven selector claws, a manual shotgun shell reloader, and other parts linked to weaponry.

The National Police reported that the interventions were carried out through judicial orders and under the supervision of the Public Ministry, as part of the preventive and investigative actions aimed at combating the illegal possession of firearms in the province.

The detainees, along with the seized evidence, were referred to the competent authorities for the corresponding legal procedures.
