Documentary on the history of Dominican baseball before the World Baseball Classic is presented

SANTO DOMINGO – The premiere of the docudrama “Our King Sport” – History of Dominican Baseball” was presented this Monday, a 75-minute cinematographic material that traces the history of Dominican baseball from its first manifestations at the beginning of the 20th century to the present day, consolidating itself as an audiovisual piece of high cultural, historical and social value.
The cinema of the Galería 360 plaza was the setting for the presentation of the audiovisual, which is put on stage because the World Baseball Classic is about to begin.

The film is directed by Miguel Vásquez and has Metro Films as its production company. The invitation is from El Nuevo Diario Films and the BHD bank.

The screening is sponsored by El Nuevo Diario, BHD, Victoria Yeb, JD Guerrero, PetroMovil and Grupo Rica. It features the leading figures knowledgeable about Dominican baseball, including Ricky Noboa, Tony Piña Cámpora, Tony Grullón, Tuto Mota, Rolando Guante and Osvaldo Rodríguez Suncar.
Similarly, Pedro Briceño, Kevin Cabral, Dionisio Soldevila, Ricardo Rodríguez, José Antonio Mena, Junior Matrillé, Carlos José Lugo, and Félix García Estrella.

People linked to the national pastime, as well as the entertainment world and other personalities, have been invited to the event.

Beyond sports, the piece highlights how baseball has been an instrument of hope, discipline, and self-improvement for thousands of Dominican families, becoming an essential part of our culture and collective identity.

With an approximate duration of 75 minutes, the docudrama is designed for exhibition in cinemas, television, and digital platforms, projecting itself as a reference material on the history of the most emblematic sport in the country.
This production not only celebrates the past, but also invites reflection on the present and future impact of baseball in nation-building.
