Hyderabad, India. – At the Wings India 2026 Conference, the president of the Civil Aviation Board of the Dominican Republic (JAC), called for the promotion of open skies policies and for giving greater prominence to air cargo transport, highlighting its strategic role as an enabler of trade and global economic development.

In that sense, the also president of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (CLAC), emphasized the need to take advantage of these opportunities, and explained that the region must continue to strengthen airport and technological infrastructure, as well as advance in public policies that promote investment, competitiveness and efficiency in the air sector. In that context, he highlighted the Open Skies policy of the Dominican Republic, which has allowed to reach historical levels of growth in air transport, and explained that from the CLAC, regional instruments aimed at expanding the liberalization of passenger and cargo transport have been promoted. Regarding air cargo, he emphasized that it should be made visible in strategic decision-making processes, as it is an essential component of the modern economy and a critical route for the transportation of high-value, high-urgency goods and perishable goods. Finally, he reiterated the Dominican Republic’s and the CLAC member countries’ willingness to strengthen international cooperation, including collaboration with India, to promote a more efficient, safe, connected, and sustainable aviation.
