Santo Domingo.- The Presidential Executing Unit (Eco5RD), under the executive direction of Fidel Bretón, initiated a fumigation campaign at the solid waste transfer and weighing stations, as part of the preventive actions implemented to strengthen the sanitary conditions of these facilities and contribute to the protection of the health of their employees and the communities located in their surroundings.
The initiative, which began this week, is part of the measures promoted by Eco5RD to ensure safe, adequate, and healthy operational spaces for the responsible management of solid waste, through proactive prevention and control actions.
The executive director of Eco5RD, Fidel Bretón, highlighted that the institution maintains permanent supervision of its facilities and considers the specific conditions of each season of the year to implement the necessary measures to reduce health risks and protect both operational personnel and the public.
“At Eco5RD, we are attentive to the conditions that may arise during each time of the year and to the factors that may affect the health of our employees and nearby communities. For this reason, we have launched this fumigation campaign as a preventive action during the hurricane season,” stated Bretón.

The official reported that, in this first stage, the program will cover stations located in the provinces and municipalities of La Vega, Haina, Las Terrenas, Samaná, and Nagua, with the purpose of progressively intervening in these strategic points intended for the handling, transfer, and weighing of solid waste.
Bretón highlighted that these actions are part of Eco5RD’s commitment to support public policies aimed at strengthening comprehensive solid waste management, promoting safer environments for those who work in these facilities and for the nearby communities.
The day includes the application of specialized products for the control of insects and other vectors, contributing to the proper maintenance of the transfer and weighing stations, and favoring the continuous development of their operations.
“We are working to ensure that every transfer and weighing station operates under conditions that guarantee safety, hygiene, and well-being, both for our employees and for the communities where we carry out our actions,” stated Bretón.
