The Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies (CUED) reported that during October 2025, the companies EDESUR, EDENORTE, and EDEESTE executed a comprehensive program of technical actions in their concession areas, with the aim of reducing losses, improving billing, and optimizing the quality of electrical service throughout the country.

According to the consolidated reports of the organization, the distributors carried out more than 73 thousand technical inspections, 44 thousand customer normalizations, more than 12 thousand dismantling of illegal connections and about 5 thousand new user acquisitions, in addition to the correction of some 3,063 billing anomalies in the case of EDENORTE.

Fraud actions have positively impacted electricity distribution companies, reflected in an exponential decrease in energy purchases of just 1.1% more than the year 2024, compared to the increase between 2023 and 2024 of 13.3%. The most important thing for the sector is that even without registering a notable growth in energy purchases, the supply experiences a supply between 97% and 98% of customers.

EDESUR highlighted intensive interventions in Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Peravia, Azua, San José de Ocoa, Barahona, Bahoruco, and San Juan.

The company reported 25,701 inspections, 12,105 normalizations, 2,343 dismantlements and 1,558 new clients, in addition to specific improvements in critical networks to strengthen supply reliability.

In the north, EDENORTE intervened in communities of Santiago, Puerto Plata, La Vega, San Francisco, Mao and Dajabón. The report includes 17,512 inspections, 7,674 normalizations, 2,109 dismantling operations and 3,063 corrected anomalies that affected billing. The company also executed network improvement projects aimed at increasing operational safety.

EDEESTE led the volume of activities with 30,455 inspections, 18,885 normalizations, 8,175 dismantlements, and 3,280 new customer acquisitions, intervening in sectors of Santo Domingo Este, Villa Mella, Monte Plata, Distrito Nacional, San Pedro, La Romana, Higüey, and Hato Mayor.

The CUED stated that these interventions are part of the national plan for loss reduction, which includes network strengthening, detection of irregularities, formalization of users, and technological improvements.

The organization announced that the actions will continue to expand in the coming months, with emphasis on critical areas where high levels of technical and non-technical losses persist.

CUED urged citizens to report any case of fraud or irregularity in the electricity service through the official portal: www.energiasinfraude.com.do
