Edith Smester and Axel García Stur offer details on “I Am Mozart” at a press meeting

In a press meeting organized by its general producer, Edith Smester, all the details of the cultural and educational experience “I Am Mozart” were offered, which arrives for the first time in the Dominican Republic courtesy of Proyes.
During the meeting, Smester, together with the show’s creator and performer, the Argentine maestro Axel García Stur—a pianist, conductor, actor, and pedagogue based in Paris—offered the media all the details of this proposal that combines classical music, theater, and play.
An experience to be lived, not just watched
“I Am Mozart” is not a traditional concert. It is a masterclass turned into a show, where children don’t just watch, but sing, play, and make music alongside one of the greatest geniuses in history.
For 60 minutes, Mozart steps out of the books, sits at the piano, tells his story, makes jokes, invites children to participate, and plays his most famous pieces live, while they learn what rhythm, melody, and opera are through play.
“It is an experience designed for a 5-year-old child and their 80-year-old grandfather to enjoy equally. That they leave humming Mozart and wanting to know more,” expressed Edith Smester during the meeting.
More than 2,000 performances worldwide
With more than 2,000 performances in Latin America and Europe, in schools, theaters, and cultural festivals, the show has been validated as an educational tool by teachers and families.
“We wanted to bring to the Dominican Republic content that brings the family together around learning. Today, children have many screens, but few experiences that connect them with culture in a vivid way. ‘I Am Mozart’ is culture, it is education, it is humor, and it is live music. It is the first classical music concert for many children, and we want it to be unforgettable,” stated Smester.
Maestro García Stur highlighted during the meeting that the goal is to break the idea that classical music is distant or boring, approaching children through emotion, participation, and humor.
