Santiago Rodríguez. – During an operation carried out in the municipality of Monción, Santiago Rodríguez province, soldiers of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) detained a Dominican citizen who was transporting nineteen (19) Haitian nationals in an irregular migratory status.
Soldiers of the 4th Infantry Brigade intercepted a 2018 red Toyota Highlander SE 4×4 SUV in front of the Monción municipal landfill.
The vehicle was driven by Jony García Rodríguez, a resident of the municipality of Partido, Dajabón province. Upon inspecting the car, the military personnel found nineteen (19) Haitian nationals inside in an irregular migratory status, consisting of nine (9) men, eight (8) women, and two (2) minors.
Among the detained foreigners, the Haitian citizen identified as Lichenine Cader, holder of passport No. R12474129, was identified, who, according to the information obtained and the statements provided, allegedly acted as the group’s guide during the transfer.

The driver, the foreigners, and the vehicle were transferred into military custody for the corresponding legal procedures. The detainee will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, while the Haitian nationals will be handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for the process established by current legislation.
