Santiago.– Members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) detained a man in San José de las Matas who was transporting 14 Haitian citizens in an irregular migratory status in a minivan.
The driver was identified as Manaury Antonio de la Cruz Peralta, who was detained while traveling through the area aboard a Dodge Grand Caravan, license plate I126444.
During the vehicle inspection, the military personnel found 11 men and three women of Haitian nationality, who did not have the required documentation to remain in the country legally.
De la Cruz Peralta was taken into custody and subsequently handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, the vehicle and the foreigners were taken to the General Bartolomé Mejía Fortress, where the procedures established by the authorities would be carried out.

The operation is part of the surveillance efforts carried out by the Army in the area to combat the irregular transport and trafficking of migrants.
