Honduras.- A violent event shook the night of Tuesday in the San Francisco neighborhood, in the municipality of Choloma, when a young man attacked his stepfather with a machete, causing his death inside the house, and later injured his mother, who was taken to a medical center with serious injuries.
The National Police of Honduras immediately responded to the emergency call with several patrols and managed to arrest the alleged aggressor. The authorities cordoned off the scene and began to gather evidence to clarify the causes of the attack and determine the motive behind this crime.
Witnesses reported that the situation quickly got out of control inside the home, generating panic among the neighbors of the San Francisco neighborhood.
According to the Police, interviews are being conducted with family members and neighbors, in addition to thorough inspections of the home, in order to reconstruct the events and establish whether there was any history that could have led to the tragedy.

This incident adds to the worrying number of homicides recorded in Honduras during 2026. According to official reports, to date, 406 homicides have been counted: 179 in January, 168 in February, and 59 so far in March.

The National Police confirmed that the detainee will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office while the corresponding legal process is defined, and investigations continue to clarify the facts, gather testimonies, and determine responsibilities.
