Following the death of Marqui Abraham García Gil, alias “Maqui”, during a police operation in La Vega, the figure that has drawn the most attention in the days since has not been solely that of the deceased, but also that of his father, Santos García.

Having become the main voice of the family, García has appeared in videos and public statements denouncing that her son was executed by National Police officers. Her claims, widely disseminated on social media and in the media, have generated mixed reactions between those who support her demand and those who question the credibility of her accusations.

The controversy arises because Santos García is not an unknown figure to the authorities. According to police records and background information disclosed on previous occasions, the man has been linked to proceedings related to robbery and violent acts, a history that has come to light again following his complaints against the law enforcement institution.

Despite this, García remains firm in his version of events and demands that his son’s case be investigated independently. As he maintains, there is audiovisual evidence that could shed light on what happened during the operation that ended in the death of “Maqui”.

Meanwhile, sectors of society consider that the background attributed to the father does not automatically invalidate his allegations and that it is up to the authorities to determine, through evidence and expert reports, what really happened during the incident. Others believe that his history should be taken into account when evaluating the accusations made publicly.

Santos García’s statements have kept the case at the center of public debate in La Vega, especially because they contrast with the official version offered by the National Police, which maintains that Marqui Abraham García Gil was a man wanted for various crimes and that he was armed at the time of the operation.

As investigations progress, the father’s prominence in public discussion has caused his past to once again become a subject of analysis and questioning. However, it will be the judicial authorities and the Public Prosecutor’s Office who will have the responsibility of establishing the facts based on the available evidence.

For now, Santos García continues to demand justice for the death of his son, while his own history once again occupies space in a story that holds the attention of the entire province of La Vega.
