In 2025, the sector registers the highest percentage of women affiliated with Social Security since 2014, although the presence of women in construction sites is still much lower than that of men, only 9%.
Female employment in the construction sector in Spain reached its highest level in eleven years in 2025, with 166,833 women affiliated with Social Security, representing 11.5% of the total people employed in the sector and a growth of 4.1% compared to the previous year. This advance exceeds the growth rate of male affiliation, which stood at 3% last year.
The female presence in the construction sector not only showed an advance superior to that of men, but also recorded the greatest increase in affiliation compared to all productive sectors. This behavior has returned the sector to figures not seen since 2014, when the percentage of women over the total reached 11.7%, according to the Observatorio Industrial de la Construcción, prepared by the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción (FLC).

Despite this progress, the participation of women in the most visible positions in the sector, especially in construction, remains low. Female work on-site barely represents 9%, although this percentage has increased compared to previous years. The report details that more than half of the female workers, 53.3%, are grouped into five main occupations, most of which are related to administrative tasks within construction companies.
