Fire reduces a house and a fabric warehouse to ashes in Santiago Oeste

Santiago.- A large fire reduced a two-story house to ashes and destroyed a warehouse of leathers and fabrics on 49th Street in the Santa Lucía sector, in the municipal district of Santiago Oeste, without registering human losses. The affected owner, Narcizo Polanco, reported that the flames spread rapidly and consumed both his home and the warehouse, where he stored goods for sale. The neighborhood mayor of the La Piña sector, Enrique Escobosa, explained that the fire would have originated after the explosion of an electrical transformer in the area.

On his side, Colonel Rafael Tejada, of the Fire Department of Santiago, reported that the brigades managed to control the fire by 65%, preventing it from spreading to other nearby homes. Units from Santiago Oeste, Villa González, La Canela, Zona Franca, and the 30 de Marzo station of this city participated in the work.
