Firefighters manage to control more than 80% of the fire in Prodacom warehouse in Santiago

Santiago.- The large-scale fire that remained active for more than four hours this Monday in a warehouse of the computer company Prodacom, located on Antonio P. Haché street in the Buena Vista sector, generating concern among residents and merchants in the area. The superintendent of the Santiago Fire Department, General Alexis Moscat, reported that the magnitude of the incident completely destroyed one level of the building, severely affecting the facilities and leaving losses not yet quantified. Moscat explained that the fire has been extinguished in more than 80%, thanks to the rapid intervention of the Fire Department units, who had the support of different rescue institutions that remain on the scene working to completely extinguish the flames.

According to preliminary information, several power outages were recorded in the area before the fire started, so they do not rule out that the origin of the fire could have been due to a possible short circuit. The fire chief indicated that, once the incident is completely under control, a formal investigation will begin to precisely determine the causes of the fire and assess the damage caused.
