Santo Domingo.– A fire reported this Tuesday morning is affecting a furniture store located on Duarte Avenue, under the 5th Centenary elevated highway, in the Villa Consuelo sector of the National District.
The flames prompted the mobilization of several units of the National District Fire Department, who arrived at the scene to try to control the situation and prevent the fire from reaching other establishments in the area.
Senior officer Ángel Prometa reported that the institution received an emergency call at 8:05 in the morning and, immediately, seven units were sent to attend to the incident.
“We have about seven units. We received a call at 8:05 in the morning. We immediately dispatched different units to respond to this emergency here, under the 5th Centenario overpass,” explained Prometa.
The firefighters’ representative indicated that operational personnel are working on the fire control phase, while efforts continue to determine the extent of the damage caused to the commercial establishment.

Likewise, he pointed out that the institution’s Technical Department will carry out an evaluation once the extinguishing efforts are concluded, with the purpose of establishing the origin of the fire.
Authorities are maintaining surveillance in the area while emergency teams continue their work. So far, no injuries or people affected by the fire have been reported.
