Santo Domingo.- At 12:03 a.m. on Thursday, January 1st, the first birth of the year 2026 occurred in the Dominican Republic, symbolically marking the beginning of the new year.

The baby, weighing 7 pounds, was born in good health at the San Lorenzo de Los Mina Maternity and Children’s Hospital.

Her mother is Marianny Luis Encarnación, 19 years old, a student, and her father is Rodolfo Marino Beltré, also 19 years old, a public transport driver. Both young people are from San Juan de la Maguana.

The couple was spending the New Year holidays in Samaná, from where they moved to Santo Domingo, as Marianny was being treated in that center.

Parents are requesting a helping hand to help raise the infant.
