Santo Domingo.– With the arrival of Valentine’s Day, businesses on Duarte Avenue and the traditional Flower Market are seeing an increase in sales, with flowers, decorative balloons, wines, and personalized mugs being the most in-demand items by consumers.
Dozens of people are visiting the stalls looking for the ideal gift to surprise their loved ones tomorrow, Saturday, February 14th.
Floral arrangements, especially those of imported red roses and daisies, top the list of preferences.
“Rose arrangements range from 2,500 to 4,000 pesos, depending on the size and presentation,” explained Enmmanuel, a flower vendor on Benito González Avenue, who highlighted that this year sales have shown a stable behavior compared to 2025 and that they intend to “wake up selling“.
In addition to flowers, balloons with romantic messages and mugs with phrases alluding to love and friendship are part of the most acquired products.
Merchants say that many customers choose to combine several items to create more personalized gifts.
“I will buy my husband a perfume. This year I wanted to change things up a bit and have him smell nice,” expressed Nicole.
The vendors consulted agreed that this year people have chosen to leave things for the “last minute“, although they have taken advantage of offers and specials.
