Santo Domingo.– Dominican Olympic taekwondo medalist, Gabriel Mercedes, highlighted the start of the competitions for the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, emphasizing the work of the athletes who are looking to start adding medals for the national delegation.
Mercedes, who was present at the Combat Pavilion of the Olympic Center, pointed out that both taekwondo and judo began their competitions and will have award ceremonies during the same day, thus marking the beginning of the battle for the medal table of this edition of the Games.
“The medal count starts here today. We are in taekwondo, at the Combat Pavilion, and also in judo, here at the Olympic Center. These are disciplines that hold their award ceremonies on the same day,” explained the former Dominican athlete.
