On social media, many point to him as the most controversial and raw contestant of this first edition.
Giuseppe Benignini, remembered in Peru for his media relationship with the singer Michelle Soifer, has once again come under the spotlight, but this time from the reality show “La Casa de Alofoke”, a production that is broadcast 24 hours a day via Youtube and that keeps thousands of viewers connected daily.
Known as El Principito, the Italian-Venezuelan model has won the heart of a large part of the Dominican public thanks to his irreverent style, his dark humor and an authenticity that sets him apart within the confinement. One of the most talked-about moments of the reality show occurred when Santiago Matías, producer and presenter, surprised Giuseppe Benignini with an unusual gift, a chain valued at two million Dominican pesos. The gesture was accompanied by thousands of reactions, in addition to the gift made days before, a Rolex watch. While some applauded the recognition of the impact the Venezuelan has generated on the audience, others interpreted it as a gesture of favoritism that could alter the dynamics within the house. The truth is that the detail catapulted Giuseppe’s popularity even further, consolidating him as the central figure of the show. But Giuseppe has not only given something to talk about because of his occurrences and unfiltered style. During an intimate conversation with other participants, he revealed a painful episode from his youth: he confessed that at 18 years old, in the midst of the crisis and after emigrating from Venezuela to Colombia, he agreed to be with a man in exchange for money. “I slept on the street, I had nothing. It was a tough time, but I did it because I needed to,” he recounted with a choked voice. The confession, far from generating rejection, awakened empathy in the audience, who valued his courage to speak openly about situations that many prefer to keep silent. Giuseppe explained that he shares that experience with the purpose of leaving a lesson for his daughter: “I work hard so that she never lacks anything. If one day she finds out what I went through, I want her to be proud of the man I became.”

The “Alofoke House” phenomenon

The reality show where Giuseppe Benignini shines has become a true digital phenomenon in the Dominican Republic. With a format inspired by Big Brother, ten participants live in total isolation, without contact with the outside world, facing physical, emotional, and social challenges, while the audience decides the course of the game through votes and “Super Chats”. Among the contestants are names like La Peki PR, Karola Cendra, Crazy Design, Gigi Núñez, Luise, Crusita, Vladimir Gómez, Mami Kim and Sr. Jiménez. In Peru, Benignini made headlines for his media-covered relationship with Michelle Soifer, a bond that was surrounded by controversies and constant appearances on entertainment programs. After their breakup, his television career seemed stagnant, but his time in Bolivia and now in the Dominican Republic has opened up new opportunities for him. Under the alias Trujillo, he has formed a solid group of followers, the TeamTrujillo, who support him in each broadcast and position him as one of the favorites.
