Haina. – With the slogan “For those who are here and for those who are gone,” the Haineros Dorados marched this Sunday through the main streets of the municipality of Haina to demand justice for the victims of the collapse of the Jet Set nightclub, which occurred on the morning of April 8.
During the mobilization, participants recalled that the tragedy left a balance of 236 people dead and more than 160 injured, a figure that deeply marked the community and the country.
With banners, t-shirts bearing the faces of their loved ones, and white balloons, family members, survivors, and community members advanced in unison, shouting a single word: “Justice!”, reiterating their demand for clear responsibilities to be established.
To the rhythm of songs like “Volver” and “Sobrevivir”, by merengue singer Rubby Pérez, the attendees shouted “we want justice”, in memory of the artist, who was entertaining the party the night of the collapse and also lost his life.
The walk began at the Los Dorados Clubhouse and ended at the mural dedicated to the victims. According to the organizers, the purpose of the day was to honor the memory of those who died and to demand concrete judicial actions, ten months after the event.
In the judicial sphere, it was recalled that the judge of the First Instruction Court of the National District postponed the preliminary hearing against Antonio Espaillat and Maribel Espaillat, accused of the collapse of the roof of the nightclub, until March 16.
The organizers assured that they will continue carrying out peaceful activities until the case is clarified and the affected families obtain answers.
