Panama City. – Citizens of the Dominican Republic will no longer have to obtain a stamped visa to travel to Panama, after the Panamanian government repealed the regulation that established this requirement for Dominicans.

The measure was approved through Executive Decree No. 12, signed this Tuesday, June 30, by the President of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, and the Minister of Public Security, Frank Alexis Ábrego.

With this provision, the decree issued in November 2015, which included the Dominican Republic among the countries whose citizens needed to have a visa stamped by a Panamanian consul to enter the territory, is repealed.

Panamanian authorities explained that, after evaluating the situation, there are no longer any security reasons or technical conditions that justify maintaining that requirement for Dominican travelers.

The Government of Panama also highlighted the good diplomatic and commercial relations with the Dominican Republic, noting that this bond favors the elimination of the migration restriction.
