Santo Domingo.– Attorney José Fis, legal representative of the deputy Sergio Moya, known as “
Gory“, offered statements to the press after a hearing related to the complaint for defamation and insult against the communicator Ángel Martínez.
Fis emphasized
his client’s willingness to appear before the court when required and defended the legality of the ongoing judicial process.
The case originated in 2020, when Moya filed a complaint against Martínez for alleged violations of
Law 53-07 on High Technology Crimes and Offenses and Law 6132 on Expression and Dissemination of Thought, due to statements made by Martínez on his YouTube channel, where he linked the deputy to illicit activities.

As a result of Martínez’s failure to appear at multiple hearings, the court declared him in default and issued an arrest warrant against him in 2021.
Fis also addressed the importance of protecting people’s honor and dignity against media attacks, emphasizing that the judicial process precisely seeks to safeguard these fundamental rights.
Furthermore, he emphasized that Deputy Moya has granted legal representation power from the beginning of the process and is willing to appear in person when the court deems it necessary.
This case is added to other legal processes in which Moya has been involved, including a lawsuit against the communicator Claudia Pérez, known as “La Tora“, for alleged defamation and insult.
In that case, Pérez was declared in default for not appearing at a hearing for which she had been legally summoned.
